The engine is the component of a vehicle that transforms energy into mechanical energy. The internal combustion engine that powers most modern automobiles is a heat engine that burns fuel to produce heat and generate motion.
Internal combustion engines generally use gasoline, diesel or LPG as fuel. There are also electric motors that transform electrical energy into mechanical work and there are also cars that work with electric motors.
The advantage of electric motors is durability, but unlike the internal combustion engine, they have a much reduced autonomy.
Over time the engines started to change, the old and the new engines are very different, as they evolved they started to be more economical and to have more power due to the addition of turbines which leads to a faster combustion.
